Moving bags vs cardboard boxes
Where a 24-gallon soft bag beats a cardboard box, and where a box is still the right tool. No priced study, no invented time savings.

A cardboard box is a cube that needs tape, dies in the rain, and usually makes one trip. A CasaBella bag is a 24-gallon zip bag, 27 × 14 × 15 inches, with two wrap-around handles, side handles, and a tag card. It folds to about 10 × 7.1 inches when it is empty. Those are the facts. Everything else is a judgment about what you are packing.
Use a bag
- Clothes on hangers and folded stacks. The top opens flat because both zipper pulls run the length of the bag.
- Bedding and pillows. A comforter is mostly air. Roll it instead of stuffing it, then set shams on top.
- Towels, stuffed animals, shoes in a pouch, and the donation pile you are actually taking.
- Anything you want to keep after the move. The bag does not go out with the cardboard.
Keep a rigid box
- Books, dishes, tools, canned food, and other dense weight. Soft walls will not protect them, and the handles are not a license to pack a library.
- Anything fragile that needs rigid walls.
- Anything that should not be squeezed. A bag's sides are meant to compress against the trunk.
How to decide in the room
Pick up the item. If dropping it would be annoying but not a broken dish or a crushed spine, it can go in a bag. If you would not want to carry it up stairs in a grocery sack, it wants a box. Write the room on the tag card before the bag gets heavy, the same way you would mark a box, except the card stays in an outside pocket.
What we are not claiming
